The U.S Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is the primary sponsor of the Solar Decathlon.



Registration

Each Solar Decathlon participant must register individually. The on-line event registration site for team members, team crew, jurors, organizers, event sponsors, and observers is now closed. On-line registration remains open for VOLUNTEERS ONLY. Event participants (EXCEPT VOLUNTEERS) that have not yet registered are required to do so at the event.

Registration Classifications and Required Forms

Check your registration classification (team member, team crew, jurors, sponsors, organizers, volunteers, observers) and complete and submit the appropriate forms for that classification.

  • Team Member — All students, staff, faculty, and other employees of qualified official Solar Decathlon participating schools.
    • Waiver of Liability
    • Emergency Medical Release
    • Photo ID
    • Signed Parental Consent, if Under 18
    • Contest 10 Driver's Form (GEM event driver)
    • Current U.S. or International Driver's License (GEM event driver)
    • Vehicle Proof of Insurance (GEM event driver)
    • Vehicle registration Documents (GEM event driver)

    The team must present documents for the GEM event driver to drive the vehicle. Contest 10: Getting Around — Driver's Information (PDF 30 KB). Download Adobe Reader.

  • Team Crew — Any person who is not a Team Member, and who is working on a Team's Project (e.g., contractors, volunteers, family members, guests).
    • Waiver of Liability
    • Emergency Medical Release
    • Signed Parental Consent, if Under 18
    • Team Crew recieve a Non-Photo Event Badge

  • Jurors — All participants of the Architecture, Market Viability, Communications, Lighting, and Engineering Juries.
    • Waiver of Liability
    • Emergency Medical Release
    • Photo ID

  • Event Sponsors — All representatives from event title, supporting, and contributing sponsors, who will be participating in the event on the National Mall.
    • Waiver of Liability
    • Emergency Medical Release
    • Photo ID

  • Organizers — All members of the Rules and Regulations Committee, DOE staff and contractors, and NREL staff and contractors.
    • Waiver of Liability (contractors only — DOE and NREL staff exempt)
    • Emergency Medical Release
    • Photo ID

  • Volunteers — DOE, NREL, Event-Sponsor and other invited volunteers.
    • Waiver of Liability
    • Emergency Medical Release
    • Signed Parental Consent, if Under 18
    • Volunteers Recieve a Non-Photo Event Badge

    Volunteers may submit their forms to the volunteer coordinator on the National Mall.

  • Observers — Invited members of the Observer Corps.
    • Waiver of Liability
    • Emergency Medical Release
    • Signed Parental Consent, if Under 18
    • Observers Recieve a Non-Photo Event Badge

Important Release Forms

Solar Decathlon Waiver of Liability

ALL registered participants, who will be involved in the Event from Assembly through Disassembly and are not DOE or NREL staff MUST submit a signed Solar Decathlon Waiver of Liability form (PDF 19 KB).

Solar Decathlon Emergency Medical Release

ALL registered participants, who will be involved in the Event from Assembly through Disassembly MUST sign a Solar Decathlon Emergency Medical Release form (PDF 33 KB).

Parental Consent

If you are under the age of 18 (by October 2nd, 2007), you MUST also bring the following completed Parental Consent form with you to the Event (PDF 27 KB) signed by a parent or guardian.

I.D. Photo Requirements

Requirements for photos to be used for identification badges:

  • Size of printed photo must be approximately 1-1/2 in. x 2 in.
    • Image size should be at least 1 in. but not more than 2 in.
  • Photo should be taken in color with a light-white or off-white background
  • Subject should wear normal street attire; no head covering, no tinted glasses
  • Subject should be in frontal pose
